“Beauty of Sri Lanka” Photo Exhibition Celebrates Earth Day in Toronto

The Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Toronto, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Photographic Art Society Canada and the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau, successfully organized the “Beauty of Sri Lanka – Photographic Exhibition 2026” at Metro Hall, Toronto on 27th April 2026.

The event was held in Canada for the first time and was organized in conjunction with International Earth Day. 

The opening ceremony was graced by Professor Karen Young, Program Coordinator at the Humber Faculty of Media, Creative Arts, and Design, Humber Polytechnic, as the Guest of Honour.

Speaking at the event, Ms. Medhavi Peiris, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Toronto, highlighted the importance of cultural diplomacy and environmental stewardship, noting that such initiatives strengthen people-to-people connections between Sri Lanka and Canada.

The event also featured remarks by renowned Sri Lankan photographer Mr. Riznad Hussain, who shared insights into the role of photography in conservation and storytelling. Mr. Suriya Perera, President of the America Sri Lanka Photographic Art Society, played a leading role in bringing the exhibition to Canada. Cultural performances by Sankalana Dancing Academy of Toronto added vibrancy to the program, celebrating Sri Lanka’s rich artistic traditions and enhancing the immersive experience for attendees. The media coverage was done by Maple Ceylon.

The exhibition attracted an audience representing members of the diplomatic corps, Canadian travel industry representatives, media, and the Sri Lankan community in Toronto.
